Collegiate Housing Foundation is pleased to announce that Brian Blakeney has joined its staff as Chief Financial Officer effective July 1, 2019. As a certified public accountant with Wilkins Miller for the past 23 years, Brian has broad experience working with municipalities, colleges and universities, non-profit organizations, retail businesses, residential and commercial construction companies and real estate developers. Brian earned a bachelor’s degree of science in business administration with a concentration in finance from Auburn University and is a member of the Association of International Certified Public Accountants and Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. His primary duties at the Foundation will be to (i) assist it and its subsidiaries in meeting their financial and accounting obligations under each project’s financing documents, (ii) engage, oversee and monitor all audit engagements for the Foundation and each of its subsidiaries, (iii) oversee completion and filing of the Foundation’s annual Form 990 return and all other local, state and federal tax filings required of it and each of its subsidiaries, (iv) oversee completion and filing of budgets for each of the Foundation’s projects; and (v) work with the Foundation’s member schools and third party managers to address any accounting or financial matters related to their respective projects.

According to Will Givhan, President of Collegiate Housing Foundation, “Brian has provided invaluable financial and accounting services to CHF for many years and as a result is intimately familiar with its operations and in particular, its financial and accounting obligations. With the rapid growth of CHF’s portfolio, the size and complexity of CHF’s financial and accounting obligations have increased to the point that we felt it imperative to bring Brian’s expertise in house. With Brian’s addition to our staff, we think CHF will be much better positioned to work with and support its projects and all the parties who rely on CHF.”
